Ironing the Robe of Jesus-Honor Christ By Serving Others

Looking For Ways To Serve
The other day, I was at work where I assist an elderly lady. She lives in an assisted living facility so I see many other residents daily and have come to know some and recognize others. Always, I wave, say hello and show myself to be a friendly person. This came to harvest when I was needed by a lady other than my client.
This particular day, I was in the laundry room waiting for Mrs. N’s laundry to dry. A lady using a walker came into the room and asked if I would unfold the ironing board for her. “Of course!” I said and did so. Then she asked me to take down the iron from the holder and unwrap the cord, she could not hold onto the walker and do all that. So I did. She then asked if I ever helped anyone other than my client. I thought she meant “helped” and said I sure did. She then asked how much I would charge to iron two blouses for her. I told her I would be honored to iron them for her at no charge. She insisted that she must pay me and I told her I would do it for love. I could not allow that lady to iron while trying to hold on to a walker!
She left for the hair salon there at the facility and said she would catch up to me later. While I ironed the clothing, the Holy Spirit of God came strongly to me with the words of Christ. In Matthew Chapter 25, Jesus says, “40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” I had been grateful to be of assistance to an elderly lady who deserved respect, but my eyes were opened to know I was helping Jesus. When we do anything for others in love without condition, it is in Him that we are acting. And it is He who receives the blessing through our act of love. After all, Jesus offered the greatest sacrifice of love ever and it can never be surpassed.
We seek to touch the hem of His garment (Mark 5:28) so we will be made whole, healed and restored. But I found it all while ironing His robe! Go beyond touching His garment. Iron it, hold it between your hands and learn the weft and weave; look at it and study the pattern. Reflect on the folds and make of The Robe and how you can give back instead of just receiving.
In this manner, you will learn more of Him and His love and compassion. And do all this by becoming more aware of opportunities to serve those He loves. Seek them out. Offer help to those who need you. Go out of your way, give of your time. Never accept payment or gratuity. I left the assisted living facility before the lady returned and had her immaculately pressed clothing on hangers ready to wear. That is of utmost importance too. Never do the ordinary-be extraordinary. After all, you are doing this for Jesus!
Never accept payment or gratuity. I left the assisted living home before the lady returned and had her immaculately iron clothing on hangers ready for her return. I tell you this not to build up myself but to share this revelation and information. This is not about me, it is about Him.
Hold open the door for a person whose arms are full. Pass up the parking space close to the store so another person doesn’t have to walk so far. Give a bottle of cold water to the homeless person on the street. Stop and give your umbrella to a person walking in the rain. Offer your cell phone to someone whose car has broken down so they can call for help. There is no end to the ways we can do for Jesus and for our fellow man.
Some of the greatest ministries do not cost a penny. Serving Jesus by serving others will never cost more than you receive. We cannot out give God! Then find a quiet place and give thanks that He trusted you enough serve Him, His people and His Kingdom.
Iron the Robe. His gratitude will be Heavenly!

Thank you for making me stop and think!
Indeed Jesus was proud of you that day for you pleased Him greatly by serving. God Bless you always.
Very heartwarming recounting of your servant hood. I enjoyed it completely.
To learn so much so young, will bring gratuity to your life in places you don't expect. Well done, good and faithful servent.
Good Morning Hyphenbird. Thank you for a beautiful hub and blessing me today. What a wonderful way of showing Jesus love.
God Bless,
Sunnie
I have been reading some of your other hubs, but especially enjoyed this one...I like the idea of ironing Jesus robe...awesome thought!
How often we need to remember that He really meant it when He said "what you do to one of these, you have done to me".
The quote from the Bible, Matthew, Chapter 25, is so beautiful and so true. I was so proud of my daughter who spent her 18th birthday helping someone move because they were going through a difficult time. She shared with me that she planned on doing something similar for each of her birthday going forward.
Hello, Hyphenbird,
What an inspiring hub.
As you are aware, I do volunteer work in a V.A. hospital, one of the city jails, a men's homeless shelter and in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Well, I have always referred to each of my "jobs" as my ministry. I call them that because when I am doing my volunteer work, I am working for Jesus.
